Clean production technology sought

BINH THUAN — The industrial sector in the central province of Binh Thuan plans to increase application of cleaner production technologies to ensure efficient use of natural resources and reduce environmental pollution.
Ho Son Hung, deputy director of the province's Department of Industry and Trade, said applying cleaner production technology in industrial production would save production costs, increase productivity and enhance competitiveness.
He said the province organised several workshops to raise awareness of the importance of applying cleaner technology among officers, industrial development consultants, as well as senior district and commune officials.
The province would offer preferential loans to enterprises that are innovative and apply newer, cleaner production technologies.
Many enterprises in the province had gradually modernised their technological applications, Hung said.
The province is home to eight industrial parks covering a total of more than 4,200ha, generating jobs for 3,200 workers.
In addition, about 6,900 firms engaged in industrial production employ 50,000 workers in the province — VNS
